Decision One: Who Holds the Wheel

Name every driver before anything else. Most firms release the car only to people listed on the agreement, and each additional driver usually faces the same checks as the lead hirer. Dig out every licence, confirm none has lapsed, and mention any endorsements at the outset.

Pin down the collection and return hours first, then pad them. Paperwork, a walk-round inspection and a fuel stop all eat into a tight schedule. Ask whether the car comes back to the same spot, and photograph any marks at pickup so nothing is disputed later.

Use your enquiry to ask about insurance, the deposit, the excess, mileage limits and late returns. Cover for windscreens and tyres varies, so get each answer in writing. Bear in mind that particular cars remain bookable only once a reservation is placed.
