Ask the Money Questions First

Ask the money questions early. What does insurance include? How big is the excess? Is there a mileage cap? How is the deposit held? Get the full list of collection documents too — usually ID, proof of address and a card. A written answer beats a remembered one every time.

Let the Load Pick the Truck

Describe your load plainly. A family moving day might involve a sofa, white goods and dozens of boxes. Give rough weights and sizes. Say if anything is long or awkward. Mention a tail lift if needed. The right truck follows from an honest brief, not the other way round.

Fix two times: when you truly need the truck and when you can genuinely return it. Check both against your real diary. Remember the extras — travel to the yard, paperwork, loading, unloading and refuelling. Request written confirmation of collection, return and opening hours.
