Decision One: Fix Your Collection and Return

Both handovers deserve their own slot in your diary. Paperwork and a condition check happen at each end, and travel to the site sits outside your paid hours. Say plainly whether you want the truck for part of a day, a full day or longer, and ask for opening hours in writing.

Decision Four: Put Money Questions in Your First Message

Cover, deposits and mileage are easy subjects in a first message and awkward ones at a busy counter. Ask what insurance travels with the truck, how large the excess runs, how the deposit is held, how mileage is charged and what a late return costs. Raise everything before you agree.
