Fix the Dates Before You Agree Anything

Vague dates cost money. A decorator who says roughly three weeks may end up paying for idle days or scrambling to extend mid-job. Fix the start and the finish, and pencil in a buffer for delays. Longer blocks go quickly, so the van you want may not be open later.

Sort Drivers and Paperwork Early

Who drives matters before any money changes hands. If a joiner and an apprentice will both use the van during a month-long fit-out, both sets of licence details belong in the conversation early. Sorting the drivers out beforehand prevents a half-finished job stalling because the wrong person turns up.

Collection day is working time, not a formality. Turn up with the licence, know which drivers are coming, and walk around the van noting scuffs before you drive off — a two-minute circuit saves a dispute at the end of a month. Fuel level and return arrangements deserve equal attention.
