Let an Honest Load List Set the Size

Write down everything going in the back, including the awkward items. One renter assumed a few flat-pack wardrobes would fit a small panel van; the boxes alone filled it. Measuring bulky pieces and counting trips saves money either way. If your list sits near a van's limit, move up a size rather than gamble.

Pin Down the Dates and Pad Them Well

Long hires reward a little slack. A fortnight's booking that ends on a Sunday leaves no room if a delivery slips a day. Build in a buffer at the far end, particularly around busy seasons when a suitable van may already be taken by another customer. Extending mid-hire is sometimes possible, but never guaranteed.
